When Love can cost you dollars.

Deborah has been advising women against gender stereotypes. She knows therefore how to treat men especially well, overcoming the barriers, herself, really well.

She is a Professor at the graduate school of business, GSB. She is married to an African American Professor James, a rare breed not just biologically, but also one to be found on the payroll. Of-course thats natural. Whats not natural is what will follow.

The wife Deborah became closer with the Dean of the school in 2012, when the latter’s wife had died. What followed is Dean’s jealous intervention in the poor husbands professional accomplishments.

The protocol says, of-course in American Academics; a senior involving in a relationship with a junior must notify his senior of the relationship, so as to avoid any infringing interference, in professional matters, nothing of that sort here in India, we would just pound on anything that we find attractive, but the Americans are a civilized lot, at-least they keep a track of whats happening, so that, if need be; the pounding fella can be impeached and for that a senior having a relationship with someone must inform the senior of his/her.

So Dean Saloner informs the Provost, of his seeing Deborah. But in the mean while the overtly zealous fella has abused his power in sizing the poor husband up. The rare breed that James is lost his leadership programs, as they were cancelled by the dean. Also there were attempts from the Dean’s side to have him removed from the pay roll, you know as in “fired”.

But a week within the Dean followed protocol and informed the provost about his dating his lady love Deborah, there was a massive chat between Professor Deborah and Dean Saloner, a 17 page love chat. When the wife asked, as a matter of chance perhaps, the husband, to clean the phone, the husband Professor James, discovered it. There were very suggestive messages like “what kind of birth control the dean and the lady professor would adopt, when they are going for …”

The husband is now suing Stanford. For attempts at professional sabotage.

Stanford depends on alumni funding and such disrepute can cost it millions of dollars in funding.

Why scandals should be guarded and mostly that means hiding the various scandals in the American Academics, is this.

Scandals like this may lead to huge financial implications.

In my opinion its better to be proactive then and take stern action against someone who is senior, yet doesn’t want to play by the rules. If not, something might go out of hand, like the latest Geof Marcy case has evidenced.
