Some views on Indian culture.

Some views on Indian culture.

Manmohan Dash

I have wanted to talk about 3 snippets of my views on what I think of 3 popular aspects of Indian culture, which any Indian who is a globe trotter is bound to be found in discussion with an international diaspora, because of their sheer popularity. I will mention 4 but leave out that one.

1. Indian women when married, wear a red mark, called “mang ki sindur” or vermilion on forehead. (No I am not going to talk about lipstick, its a modernized version)

2. Indian temple walls, popularly called now as Hindu temples walls, are replete with sexual imagery, but as far as we know, it only immediately precedes the Mughal and British influx. Were the Hindus always conservative, ancient antiques say otherwise.

3. Indian or Hindu temple walls have been defaced to a large extent. Mostly an act of dishonor on the artifacts, with their noses being disfigured. What causes this shameful act.

4. Brahmanism, (and caste system) Basically Brahmanism is a religion separated from Hinduism, but now mixed, a “fact” you will not see so well mentioned, as would be well mentioned, Brahmanism vs caste system, we discuss things based on our agenda about them.

I have had my thoughts spared on most of these, on and off, and have had slight differences of opinion with majorly held views, except point-1. But lately when I relaxed myself, I realize that these thoughts are still prevalent in my mindscape and they have slightly matured, as to how I am seeing them now, a slight difference of opinion with even myself. I am not anyone’s agent, trying to give the value of scholarship to otherwise disqualified people. I will talk about that a little as well.

So lets go point-by-point.

Hanumana was a superior/preceding God than Rama and was sunjugated to his feet.

This fact was recognized much earlier by ancient Indians. They like all other sun philosophy practices worshiped Hanumana (Monkey God) as Sun’s avatar. (there are more than 10 avatar, there are millions of avatar not just 10) Why Monkey/Ape was considered Sun? 1st of all earlier philosophy was Sun’s vitality: snake, deer, fish, Vohr, humans … Now an ape is liek half-human, hence hanuman = Na+human. Don’t argue human as a word must not be known to the people that lived in say 1st century BC, anywhere in the world or these people did not migrate anywhere. Precisely such arguments are made to propagate myth in view of a fictitious world rather than an actual world.

Expectamus Dominum is same as Jaga Mohan !!

Major reason is sun and stars are represented through these temples which are then the vitality of population. Thats the base philosophy of all these major religion and when mixed produces one God/people/ etc. But it also hides in it a treasure trove of geometric pattern which can be used to illuminate world history. this is the same reason for architecture of other religious traditions. They are all mixed. In the end as I have hypothesized only 20% of world population can be Hindu if there is enough mixing for 1000s of year. (Its possible in as long as it is, I mean there has to be sufficient mixing, which being perhaps bellian curve approaches a quick time say 500 years, we have 7K years.)

The vaishya eg is busi-sha = business person, hurriedly made into vaishya. The actual varna could also be (due to racial/religious mixing) Hindu-Jew-Christian-Islam. Which are all considered to be Arjya splitting into Hindu-Jew and then their mixing splitting into Christ and Islam. Also see that this way Mount Moriah might be Mount Meru, the latter is considered to be Hindu-center-of-universe.

This way the caste system is far more understood since, for 1000s of years these major religions were present world wide and mixed up. The other major religion is Budhism. B-ism was also mixed to each of them over time line of history. Which is why Morriah=mo-arya=maha-arya etc which also mean ordain of the God because raya is ordain or ruling.

But this might have been considered in various forms. eg in some places it might have been considered merged with the major religion say (of the) Hindu, Jew or Christ .
That means depending on time line of history, there were different layers, sometimes Brahman-Xatriya-..-Xudra=small/low) sometimes other variants of Jew-Christ-Islam-Hindu mixing and assimilated into different classes/divisions. Expansion/proselytization/conversion/re-conversion/assimilation they all occurred synonymous with religious harmony.
