Interference of plane harmonic waves: This diagram explains the interference caused by two plane harmonic waves. Plane harmonic waves are plane waves with sinusoidal variations of the field vectors, E and B. The E field has a linear or plane polarisation, i.e. it vibrates on a fixed plane.
