My analysis of Odisha elections — 2017

Odisha Panchayat Election 2017

The concurrent election in Odisha just drew to a close and I did an analysis on the results available tentatively. Notice that there is no visible errors here, even if I e.g. adjusted 854 to 850 and so on.

If you add up the % figures they add to 100% perfectly — I simply did the calculation and applied no tricks, that means there is some simple pattern in the data which is the reason I made this post.

Making small changes in large numbers calls to Euclid every-time and makes sure nothing changes as such. Even if there would be a little change it would really matter not if numbers are properly normalized ( that is adjusted to 100% ) which becomes difficult if there are inherent larger errors.

Last election ( 2012 ) # of seats won ( % of 850 ) followed by the same in 2017.

2012 BJD: 76, Cong: 14, BJP: 4, Others: 6.
2017 BJD: 53, Cong: 8, BJP: 37, Others: 2.
Do you see what Odisha did to BJD?

In 2012 there was a 52 % disparity between seats won by ruling party BJD and seats won by oppositions members. The mentioned asymmetry was calculated like this

What I criticize and what I don’t?

Previous title; Who I criticize and who I don’t?

Casual heroes and heroins and their ripened silence and immature hypocrisy.

Friends this is a general comment of the purported political nature of some of my criticism posts — on social media, which consists, mainly, G+, twitter, FB and occasionally my own website, and these type of criticism is only perhaps 10%.

I am not keeping a tab of the composition, but if I post a link of some discovery or some events, that I do not follow myself greatly, but just want to share, I do so, and that perhaps covers more significant numbers of my posts, on such social issues. Also more than 75% of my posts are perhaps simply neutral from a preposterous political view point. See what I mean, here, here and here.

So my own criticism may be significant, but I share a lot of views and opinions and analyses from others. This is also a modus operandi of how and what I am willing to believe, as opposed to what party line I would lick with impunity.

There are tons of events or news from here and there and only few involves important issues, that are being discussed elsewhere. If you are one of my regular post comment-er I would take your comments with as much sincerity as they are made with. In other words my alarm bells would not be ringing “caution”, I have already some kind of trust working between you, my reader, and me, the post maker.

But a one time comment that simply picks up on a particularly psychic paranoia of one self and projects as a generic nature of my existence, may not be seen with much impunity.

Farmers killing themselves in Maharashtra.

660 farmers killed themselves in Maharashtra, in 2015 — as per today’s print edition of TOI. While its worrying to the core, whats more worrying is the diversion of Relief Fund by CM towards cultural activities. CM Fadnavis says 25% — of relief fund, is allocated towards culture promotion. Why should relief fund be diverted towards culture especially when large scale deprivations are forcing farmer suicides.

One RTI by Galgali (who also exposed PM Modi’s 8.3 crore per message to nation program) reveals a group was sent to Thailand for a dance program and they availed Rs 8 lakh through direct involvement of CM who simply diverted the amount from relief fund towards such a culture promotion, while the week before 32 farmers killed themselves. Perhaps the CM is just too uninformed, like the CM here in our state Odisha.

But its not only Fadnavis who is to be accused of such.

During previous governments (2008) this is what they used relief funds towards >>

Racial Chauvinism.

Racial Chauvinism

I came across the following on FB. Its not the first time I have come across such prejudiced view of the world we live in, irrespective of whether its a western view or an eastern view. But its not right and we must not accept such perjury of ethical concerns. Its kind of order of the western myopia, that it paints everything with the same brush, as long as its not western. We must be cognizant of it and dispel such myth from our Psyche.

Here is his confident perjury.

American Women are not repressed. Would you like to see true repression I turn your gaze towards 95% of women in Saudi Arabia, rural China, India, other nations of similar configurations, those are a gender ‘repressed. If you do not have to ask permission to leave your house then you are not ‘repressed.

— Eric Kirsch.

So cutting your napes in certain way makes you liberals? Explains whats wrong with the western view of the world.

1. I do agree that repression of women in India is rampant. But 95% you gotta be kidding me. Where do you get such numbers except from your wildly self gratifying hokum.

Gandhi “Even my hopes are brittle now”.

Disclaimer; This is just a spontaneous concocting of words, without any particular stoking of reason. And the interpretation follows after I had a good nap. So, its like its just creative dabbling.

shamma hae suhana
mausam ashiqana
yahan jo hona tha
wo to na hua
bas chal raha hae pina
hasina is sitting with kamina

aman me lagi hae aag
chaman me pasina
gam ka aaj bhi yuun
jam ke barasnaa !

daddy ji aye the
muskura kar bole
mere bhi tute hain tamanna !

Thinking about it hours later this is what I meant;

The ambiance and weather is all fine here in India
The economic development that were expected here
Were not to happen.
Only celebrations
